Relative Advantage Chart
The first step in the TIP (Technology Integration Planning) model involves a judicious review of the benefits of using technology-based strategies. It is called a "relative advantage" when the instructional solution is deemed more rewarding than the "old way" of doing things, despite the cost and extra effort. Below is a chart outlining many specific advantages of the careful use of technology in a 5th grade science classroom. In most cases, technology helps break down abstract concepts, improves inquiry, increases motivation, saves time, and differentiates learning.
